“We define conversational video as being the capture of an authentic narrative or point of view or piece of knowledge – given by a living human being that is based on their authentic experience be it historical or professional skill they have
– they’re imparting person-to-person.”

Do you have a loved one who passed away or a celebrity you follow you’d love to ask a few burning questions?
At our core, we’re all meaning seekers wired to constantly make sense of the world around us in order to make decisions. It’s all part part of our ancient survival instinct from the time we had to decide what to do facing a lion in the jungle – flight or fight?
For example, you decided to read this article because you may have heard something about Conversational Video, have no clue or received a recommendation.
Regardless, I bet you’ve already formed a few questions you’re now seeking answers to.
What if I could replace this article with a single video, so you can ask an expert all your questions and get answers as if you were in a Zoom call?
When I came across an LA-based company that attempts to do just that with video, I got intrigued.
When I tried a few of their demos like quizzing William Shatner with a few particular questions – I was blown away.
It initially reminded me of the 2004’s Burger King commercial, The Subservient Chicken where users could ask a man dressed in a chicken costume to do anything to support the campaign message “Get chicken just the way you like it.”
A more recent association I had was the 2020’s sci-fi comedy Upload on Amazon Prime, depicting a future where people can upload their consciousness to a luxurious digital afterlife – and have conversations with the living.
To help me unpack this exciting topic about AI-driven conversational video I had the great pleasure to speak with Stephen Smith.
He is the Cofounder & CEO of StoryFile – a fascinating SaaS conversation storytelling platform.
Or as they aptly put it “Conversational Video – making videos that talk back. We make AI feel more human.”
Some of StoryFile’s clients include Walmart, Time Magazine, and the Museum of Science – to name a few.
As you can imagine, capturing stories and making them accessible to audiences in an interactive Q&A video experience is quite effective in various fields.
From hero content in marketing campaigns, customer service, origin stories in About sections, family heritage, education, training, recruitment, museums – to immersive metaverse experiences.
It’s all in the latest episode of the Visual Storytelling Today podcast.
